According to the phytochemical screening, Lophira procera is rich in phenolic compounds including total polyphenols, total flavonoids, tannins and proantocianidins. It has been reported that there is a correlation between total polyphenol content and antioxidant activity [29]. The present invention

  2023-11-04

Testosterone can be converted into estrogens by aromatase action. Aromatase is encoded by CYP19, belongs to cytochrome P450 superfamily, and synthesizes estradiol (E2) and estrone (E1) from testosterone and androstenedione respectively (Fig. 1). Aromatase is expressed in the ORS of anagen hair folli

Introduction There are greater than five million Americans living with Alzheimer's dementia and more than 35 million people worldwide [1], and without a way to stop or slow the progression, there will be nearly a tripling of individuals affected by 2050 (13.8 million) [1]. The urgency to develop

Distribution of OCT3 in rat brain To understand the potential roles of this corticosterone-sensitive monoamine clearance mechanism in the regulation of monoaminergic neurotransmission and behavior, and its potential contribution to corticosteroid actions on behavior, we examined the rostrocaudal

  2023-11-03

The indirect effect of corporate taxation, as given by the second term in Eq. (18), consists of two elements; (i) a standard Remember effect (τ/n2), and (ii) a capital cost effect (rG(1−αt)/(1−t)). With a CRS technology, the cost effect vanishes, whereas with an IRS (a DRS) technology the cost effec

Fourth, non-canonical sites may be targeted. Classical benzodiazepines require the presence of a γ subunit for high-affinity binding, which limits their activity to a specific large pool of receptor isoforms, leaving other isoforms unaffected. In particular, δ subunit-containing receptors, as well a

The current antifungal pipeline contains several categories of compounds at different stages of development [1], [9], [10], [96]. In Table 1 we summarize the most promising antifungal molecules that are in preclinical and in clinical development. Several compounds in the pipeline are derivatives of

  2023-11-03

Based on the general structure-function principle in biology [[19], [20], [21]], toxic oligomers are expected to have well-defined three-dimensional structures to carry out their pathological functions. A common amyloid toxicity mechanism also suggests that toxic oligomers of different amyloid prote

A previous study reported that the serotonergic mechanism was involved in the psychological stress-induced alteration in synaptic plasticity in the rat hippocampal CA1 field (Matsumoto et al., 2004). Sumitaka Inoue et al. (Inoue et al., 2014) reported that pretreatment with a 5-HT1A receptor partial

The enzyme plays an important role in the purine metabolism of this parasite. Like other parasitic protozoa, T. gondii is incapable of de novo purine biosynthesis and depends totally on preformed purines salvaged from the host Epothilone B for its purine requirements and survival (Perrotto et al.,

Furthermore, we found up-regulated protein and mRNA levels of adenosine kinase in mouse retina with TON. The up-regulation of ADK was previously demonstrated in diabetic retinopathy (Pang et al., 2010). Greater levels of ADK in activated macrophages and microglial cells abrogate the immune response.

MicroRNA (miRNA) is an abundant group of small (22-nucleotide) noncoding RNA molecules that directly binds with 3′ untranslated region (UTR) of target messenger RNAs (mRNAs) to regulate gene expression, playing an important role in variety of biological processes including cell proliferation, apopto
